For routine vaccinations, a trip to the clinic once a year can seem like a bit of a trek, especially if you have more than one pet or your pet dislikes travel or other animals. Or if you’ve just had a litter of puppies, you might decide it’s safer to have their first vaccinations done at home rather than in the practice to reduce the risk of catching diseases.
Either way, I offer full examination and vaccination service for cats, dogs, and rabbits.
I specialise in the home vaccination of puppies and adult dogs in Doncaster and surrounding South Yorkshire. Vaccinations are important to the health of your dog and can only be carried out by a registered veterinary surgeon.
Puppies requires a minimum course of two vaccinations, usually started from 7 weeks of age, with the second vaccination 2-4 weeks later. Protecting for; Distemper, Parvo, Leptospirosis and Hepatitis.
Adult dogs are still at risk from infectious disease. Dogs immune status to vaccinations can vary so there is an option of blood testing annually to check the immune status against Parvo virus, hepatitis and distemper. Leptospirosis will still need to be protected for in the form of a vaccination annually. If Titre testing is not opted for we normally vaccinate dogs against Parvo, hepatitis and distemper every three years.
In addition to the routine infectious diseases your dog may be at risk of kennel cough if they mix with other dogs or go to day care and kennels. There is an oral or nasal vaccination that is given annually to help prevent this.
Travelling out of the UK requires a Rabies vaccination which needs to be kept in date and repeated every one-three years.
We still see very sad cases yearly in all areas of the country when dogs die or become very poorly and require intensive hospitalisation to treat some of the diseases that could have been prevented by simple vaccinations.
We aim to make our prices as competitive as they can be so we can offer a truly affordable home vaccination service for dogs in Doncaster:
Calmpawz vaccinates cats throughout Doncaster year round in the comfort of their own homes. This mobile vet service eliminates the stress of traveling to a vet practise and mixing with other animals. Vaccinations can only be carried out by a registered veterinary surgeon.
Cats require vaccinations to protect them from cat flu and enteritis and feline leukaemia.
Cats require boosters annually, if they are indoor cats and do not have any contact with other cats the risks are reduced as an adult so they may not require the leukaemia vaccination annually.
Cats can become very poorly with potentially fatal consequences if they contact feline leukaemia. Although cat flu is often treatable it can affect their sight and upper respiratory tracts for life and can often require intensive treatment if caught when they are kittens.
Vaccinations can prevent cats becoming very sick with these infectious diseases.
Rabbit vaccinations can only be carried out by a registered veterinary surgeon. They are essential for the health and happiness of your beloved rabbit.
Rabbits require the Myxomatosis vaccination and the Viral haemorrhagic disease( 1 &2) vaccinations. Vaccinations are done yearly.
