Pet Euthanasia at Home in Rotherham

A home farewell for your pet is peaceful and dignified and gives owners the time to say goodbye in their own way. Instead of being distressed by the traditional vet visit, there is a much better option for both your pet and you, their loving owner(s).

My name is Rebecca, and I am a mobile vet in Rotherham and a pet owner myself. I have over 20 years first-hand experience of this confusing and sad time. Having helped many pet owners in the same situation throughout South Yorkshire, I’m here to help you make those difficult decisions with my home euthanasia and end of life care service.

I am always striving to offer the very best service which is why I have also completed the Euthanasia Master Program which demonstrates my commitment to euthanasia best practices. Rest assured knowing that your pet is in very safe hands.

Book an End-of-life Care Consultation for your pet

To help with any decision making, I would always recommend starting with an end-of-life consultation. Your home farewell might happen during this consultation, or we may book an alternative visit to give you more time with your pet or try a different treatment option. I will only ever support you during this consultation, offering honest advice and most importantly will never push you into a decision you are not comfortable with.

A typical end of life care consultation includes:

  • Looking at your pet’s condition, symptoms, medication and care plan
  • A gentle physical examination
  • A quality-of-life assessment
  • My honest expert opinion on ‘the right time’ for your pet
  • A plan to keep your pet as pain free as possible
  • Advice on what to do in an emergency after the consultation

Remember, you know your pet best so if you do have concerns about their health it is better to act early before it becomes an emergency situation – book your consultation now.

What is Home Euthanasia?

Home euthanasia or as I sometimes refer to it as a home farewell, is the act of putting your pet to sleep using a two-step process. This is a compassionate, pain free way to say goodbye to your pet. Doing this in the familiarity of your own home is also comforting for both the pet and the owners.

A typical home euthanasia will include:

  • My arrival at an arranged time where I will greet the pet and the family
  • I will discuss the euthanasia process in full and assess if your pet requires a consultation beforehand (if one has not been done by me recently). If your pet is in crisis or an emergency situation, their welfare takes priority
  • I will obtain your consent for the euthanasia of your pet
  • Your pet will be sedated
  • I will euthanise your pet in your chosen special place when you and your family are ready
  • I can assist with after-care arrangements or guide you on handling this yourselves

I try to be as flexible as possible with appointments depending on my schedule.
