About CalmPawz

A mobile vet operating in Doncaster providing home care for cats and dogs.

About Me

I qualified as a vet in 1995 from The University of Glasgow. Like many vets, I spent a couple of years in traditional mixed practice treating all species, but quickly realised that my passion lay in companion animals. I’ve been working with pets in the Yorkshire and Nottinghamshire counties ever since.

Over the years I’ve had a variety of veterinary jobs, from being a practice owner through to working nights and weekends in emergency medicine. I’ve even done some video consultations from home, working with animals who can’t easily visit the vet. In fact, it was this experience that made me realise just how many animals need medical care but can’t easily get to the vets, whether due to transport problems, behavioural problems, or old age. My service offers the opportunity for your pet to be less stressed being seen in their own environment.

Veterinary interests

I have an interest in nutritional and alternative therapies as well as further qualifications in euthanasia and palliative care, making me an excellent choice for senior pets and those reaching the end of their lives.

I also have a passion for birds as i’m a qualified Official Veterinarian for export of all birds and pets and can remove the worry from owners in ensuring the paperwork and any necessary tests are completed. This means I can sometimes be found handling and certifying everything from falcons to racing pigeons before they travel. It’s a fascinating side of the job and I’ve met lots of interesting people.

Home life

I’m a familiar face in Doncaster, having lived here and in the surrounding area for over 20 years. I’m an active member of the tennis club and also love trail running and walking our stunning countryside with my dogs, Evie the cocker spaniel and Frankie the French Bull Dog. I love that being a home visit vet makes me part of the community I love.

Why choose me?

I have a wealth of experience with pets in Doncaster, and I’m constantly updating my knowledge, meaning your pet is in very safe hands. But, more importantly, I have a family and pets of my own. I understand how difficult it can be to get your pet care if you are housebound, if your cat hates his carrier, or even if you just want your pet’s last moments to be stress-free, at home, and surrounded by his family. I want to support you and make sure each precious moment with your beloved pet is as good as it can be – and that means making myself available to help, wherever and whenever I can.
